We are a young agency whose goal is to provide above-standard services to our students and a great work experience to our teachers. After spending time abroad, I decided to return to the Czech Republic and start my own agency. Extra Mile strives to provide our students the opportunity to have lessons with native speakers on regular basis. We bring native speakers from UK, US and other English speaking countries to experience life in the Czech Republic in a beautiful town of Říčany just 20 minutes away from Prague, the historical domain of Europe.

My name is Lisa and I come from England but I have lived in the Czech Republic for more than four years. In that time I completed my CELTA and I have gained experience in leadership position. In cooperation with Extra Mile I have the opportunity to help prepare unique and dynamic lessons for our students. As the Senior teacher I can offer support and pedagogical guidance to our teachers.
Emily Gibson, BA (Hons.)
My name is Emily and I am an English teacher from Canada. I received my TEFL certificate in Prague and I have lived here ever since! I love teaching children and spend my summers working at various English camps for kids. I also like to teach adults, help them conquer grammar and vocabulary to help them master English. I have my bachelor’s Degree in English and a minor in creative writing. I joined Extra Mile at 2022 and I am very excited to be a part of the team! I love being creative and providing students with lessons that are fun and interactive. I am looking forward to helping students improve their language skills and watching them grow.
Sara Keiper, BA (Hons.)
I’m Sara, a TEFL-certified native English speaker from Chicago, Illinois, USA, with a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management & Leadership from North Park University. Before moving to the Czech Republic in 2021, I worked in a variety of industries such as finance, philanthropy, and university education. I enjoy working with English language learning students from children to adults, I try to make my lessons fun and customized for the students, and I am very happy to be part of the Extra Mile team!
Michael Freire, BA (Hons.)
My name is Michael and I moved to the Czech Republic from New York City. Prague being the first place I ever visited outside of the United States by myself when I was younger, the Czech Republic will always have a special place in my heart and I am overjoyed to live here and explore the culture. In addition to being a native English speaker, I graduated with a Bachelor’s in psychology and have several years of experience teaching. Prior to moving here I was a primary school teacher in the United States. Likewise, I have much experience doing one-on-one tutoring and small group classes. While the larger part of my experience is with young learners, I have a passion for creating personalized and goal-oriented lessons geared towards adults learning English as well. My lessons always involve creativity and engagement to be paired with the work we will do together. I hope to have the chance to teach you soon!
Saydi Blackwood
My name is Saydi. I am an English teacher from a small island in Washington State, U.S.A. I have always had a love for travel and an interest in teaching English internationally. Before coming to Prague, I obtained my first TEFL certification, as well as a specialized certification in teaching young learners. I taught people from South and Central America, and helped them improve their conversation skills. After falling in love with Prague and moving there, I received my second TEFL certification at a local school, where I expanded my teaching experience and taught students from all different ages and backgrounds. I am very excited to take what I’ve learned and to share my knowledge with the students at Extra Mile.
Alena James, BA (Hons.)
My name is Alena and I’m a native English teacher from Las Vegas, Nevada. I completed my Bachelor’s in Business in Southern California at Chapman University. A year after earning my degree, I took the leap and officially pursued a goal I’ve had since I was a child: living internationally. As a published writer and experienced public speaker, I knew teaching was right for me. I chose to come to Prague specifically to earn my TEFL certificate at one of the most highly reputable programs in Europe. Here, I trained intensively and taught Czech students of all ages and levels. I have experience teaching Business English to adults in Prague and General English to teenagers at a summer camp in the Czech Republic. I’m thrilled to be a teacher with Extra Mile and so excited to have the opportunity to help English language learners improve their skills and accomplish their life goals!
Pati Blackwood
Hello! I am Pati and I am very excited about being a member of the awesome Extra Mile team! The Czech Republic is a beautiful country, full of rich history and much diversity and I am very happy to be living here. Before moving to Prague, where I completed my second TEFL certification and taught students from different countries and levels, I owned a marketing and development business and provided accounting services. I have worked in many different industries and with people from all over the world, providing training for their jobs, activities, and preparation for citizenship requirements, which included learning and conversing in English. I’ve lived in many different parts of America and have travelled across the US and to several countries, where I have met many incredible people and experienced many wonderful things, of which all have brought me to where I am at now – teaching English. With my combined education and experience, I am looking forward to teaching and helping students to learn and improve their English skills so that they can have many successes in life.

My name is Keenan and I am originally from San Francisco, California, USA, but moved to Boulder, Colorado, USA to receive my Bachelor degrees in Political Science and Economics. After university, I moved to Prague to receive my TEFL and YLT certifications as well as fulfilling my dream of immersing myself in a different culture. I have experienced many different people and places, but since moving here I instantly fell in love with Prague and everything that it has to offer. I have taught young children to adults and look to bring my broad set of skills to Extra Mile, providing students with the tools needed to master their English!
Grace Watkins, MA
Hello, everyone! My name is Grace Watkins and I am originally from Dallas, Texas, though I moved to Chicago to complete my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English. It has been a lifelong goal of mine to experience a culture outside the US, and travel without being a tourist. I earned my TEFL certification in Prague and am now working on making that dream a reality! One day I hope to teach English at the university level, so I am passionate about all aspects of the classroom and am looking forward to working with the wonderful students at Extra Mile.
Maggie Michalak, BA (Hons.)
Hello! I’m Maggie and I grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, but then moved to northwest Kansas to get my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. After college, I stayed in Kansas and taught at an elementary school for 3 years before deciding to move abroad. I love teaching and traveling, so I decided to take a TEFL program in Prague in order to live out both of the things I enjoy most. I have taught different ages and levels and am looking forward to continuing building my own teaching skill set, while helping others reach their English language goals. I am very excited to meet and teach students through Extra Mile!

My name is Jana, originally from sunny South Africa after which I lived in England for 9 years and from August 2021, I have been living in the beautiful Czech Republic with my husband and 2 young children. I have always had a love for traveling and experiencing new cultures. I have worked mainly in the Travel Industry and the Motor Industry and developed a passion for helping, training and coaching new members of staff. My name is Alison and I come to Prague from North Carolina. I have an associates of arts and bachelors degrees in English and Secondary English Education. Before moving to Prague I taught English for ten years. I have always had an interest in history, so during those ten years I also obtained an add-on certification to teach social studies and taught social studies to middle school students. I moved to Prague where I received my TEFL certification and am living my dream of living and teaching abroad.
